You may have heard that Oprah Winfrey and one of her two good doctors Dr. Oz are suing a whole bunch of the acai berry supplement manufacturers and distributors offering free acai berry trials. Which is why we wanted to take a second to set the record straight.
Oprah and Dr. Oz are not suing these companies because of any dispute with the health claims they’re making about acai berry supplements, but because they’re using Oprah’s and Dr. Oz’s name and likeness without permission. If any company used your name and likeness to promote your product without your permission, you’d be upset too. But that does not say anything about the quality of the product offered in the acai berry trials itself.
Oprah and Dr. Oz did mention acai berries on the Oprah Winfrey show, and in a positive light at that. What they did not do, however, was endorse any one or more particular acai berry products or acai berry trials over any other. That’s all.
